2.3× more AI visibility in six months. How TangoAI closed the gap with its category leader.
Marcus FeldVP of Marketing
TangoAI ranked well and still lost deals to a competitor buyers kept naming first. The gap was never the website — it was every source the model read before reaching it. Over two quarters we rebuilt those signals and took visibility from 18% to 42%.
Ranking first was not being recommended first
The audit compared prompt-level visibility against the category leader across the questions their buyers actually ask. TangoAI appeared in 18% of answers; the leader appeared in 45%.
The pages ranking on Google were not the pages the models were reading. Almost every cited source sat outside the domain — review platforms, community threads, and a handful of industry publications.
“We were invisible in AI answers while competitors were being recommended by name.”
| Prompt group | Visibility, month 0 → 6 |
|---|---|
| Category comparisons | 14% → 46% |
| Use-case questions | 21% → 44% |
| Alternatives and switching | 9% → 31% |
| Pricing and evaluation | 26% → 48% |
Building the sources the answers are made of
On-site work went first: comparison pages, use-case coverage, and the structure that lets a model understand what the product does without guessing.
In parallel we opened the off-site side — a Medium series through established profiles, sustained Reddit participation in the communities buyers already read, and the first placements on publications the models cite in this category.
- Comparison and alternatives pages for the queries buyers actually type
- Structured data so the product is legible without guesswork
- A Medium series published through established profiles
- Reddit participation in the communities the models quote
- First placements on the publications cited in this category
Compounding, not campaigning
Every citation made the next one easier to earn. By month four the same prompts that had returned three competitors were returning TangoAI in second place, and branded search followed.
The programme now runs on the topics and sources that produce citations, with the underperforming assets either improved or dropped each quarter.
